M.Sc. Sustainable Management Program
The LFI represented by Dr Sewilam has founded a graduate program in Sustainable Development at the American University in Cairo.
Graduate Diploma | M.Sc. Sustainable Development
The program offers two degrees;
This graduate program aims to create a whole new generation of business and social entrepreneurs equipped with the skills that allow them to start up green businesses, launch innovative ventures and products, and put in place public policy and social entrepreneurship innovations that, together, address society’s environmental and natural resource challenges.
The program aims to provide students with a sound theoretical and practical understanding of innovation and entrepreneurship in all three sectors – private, governmental, and non-profit – in preparation for careers as entrepreneurs and “intrapreneurs” in a range of organizations. Through this program, students will learn how to identify, assess and shape environmental ideas into real business opportunities and how to support such ventures through entrepreneurial private, government and civil society initiatives.
Adopting an interdisciplinary approach, the coursework combines a conceptual review of the relationships between business, industry, environment, policy and society, with a much more applied examination of the wide range of initiatives that relate to environmental management and sustainable economic development. This unique program is the first of its kind in the Middle East and one of few programs in the world that bring many disciplines together. It is the first AUC program based on innovative collaboration among the AUC schools of Business, Science and Engineering, Global Affairs and Public Policy, and Humanities and Social Sciences.
The program has been developed in the framework of an EU TEMPUS project funded by the European Commission between 2012 and 2015. Partners involved in the project were; the RWTH Aachen University, Politecnico di Milano (POLIMI) – Italy, and Technical University of Graz – Austria.
In addition to the involvement of four Egyptian universities namely the American University in Cairo (AUC), Aswan University, Zagazig University and Heliopolis University. The cooperation between the RWTH Aachen University, the AUC and POLIMI is a sustainable cooperation and the program is running with the intensive involvement of Dr Sewilam to offer dual degrees. The synchronization, cooperation and students exchange between this MSc. program and the newly offered Sustainable Management – Water and Energy at the RWTH Aachen is in progress.
